THE Presidential Land Task Force has asked the residents of Kinamawanga village in Galiraya sub-county, Kayunga district not to panic over an eviction order that was issued to them recently.

Addressing the over 400 affected people on Saturday, the deputy task-force chairperson, Resty Kiguli, said they should not vacate their homes.

The order was issued by Moses Kaliisa, alias Kalangwa, a prominent business tycoon, who claims ownership of the land on which the residents have lived for over 30 years. Kiguli, however, said it was illegal to evict the tenants without compensation.

She noted that there were queries on whether Kaliisa was the rightful owner of the 1,300 acres of land.
