Locals told to fight cattle theft
BUSIA-Residents have been urged to cooperate with the Police to fight cattle theft. James Asubo, the district Police crime chief, said over three cases were reported every week. He said the most-affected sub-counties were Dabani, Bulumbi, Lunyo and Buhehe. Asubo explained that the stolen cattle were either sold in Kenya or slaughtered and the meat sold in the villages. He said three people had been arrested over the theft. They are Mayende Bikere, Mangeni Kongo and Ogutu Siababa, all residents of Dabani sub-county.

486 people test HIV-positive
BUGIRI-A total of 486 people in the district have tested HIV- positive. They were part of the 3,253 people who have tested since the beginning of the year. The district health educator, Mesach Balidawa, said the hard-hit sub-counties were Sigulu islands, Buhemba and Mutumba. The resident district commissioner, Margaret Mwanamoiza, advised parents to speak to their children about HIV.
