ALPHA rally team navigator Sayed Kadri has said he owes his success in motorsport to the late Riyaz Kurji.

Kurji crashed to death at the KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally last month but Kadri survived with injuries.

The crew which was leading the race were declared winners of the Pearl Rally.

Kadri and Kurji were also awarded the utl-USPA sports personality of the month of May accolade.

“Our lives will never be the same without him (Kurji). He got me to the limelight. He was the best thing to have happened to my life,” Kadri said after he received the award from uganda telecom corporate brand manager Charlotte Kemigyisha in Kampala yesterday.

Kadri was flanked at the awards ceremony by motorsport officials David Bitalo and Dusman Okee, who hailed USPA for recognising the crew.
