BUGIRI - Bodaboda riders in the district have been stopped from working after 8:00pm. Addressing boda boda cyclists at B.M. Hotel in Bugiri town, the Police operations commander, Patrick Ngobi, said the move was aimed at curbing the increasing cases of theft of motorcycles. Ngobi said anyone who violated the law would be prosecuted. Last week, eight motorcycles were robbed by iron bar and panga-wielding thugs.

Sh100m lost to fake firms

MASAKA - The municipality has lost over sh100m due to the poor tendering system, the chairperson of Kimanya Division, Willis Kitto, has said. “Our division has lost over sh100m to companies like Adolita that was charged with collecting revenue from parking yards,” he said on Monday, while on a study visit to Mukono together with the division councillors.

Crime up in Gulu

GULU - A total of 694 crimes were committed in the district in April and May, according to the Police. “There was an increase in the rate of crimes committed,” the district Police chief, Yasin Ndimwibo, said while addressing a press conference on Monday. He said defilement had gone up during the time children were on holiday.
