Kenyan authorities have handed over seven boat engines impounded from Ugandan fishermen for illegally fishing on the Kenyan side of Lake Victoria, writes Moses Bikala.

The Bugiri resident district commissioner, Margaret Mwanamoiza, led a team of seven district officials to Malega islands to receive the engines.

Mwanamoiza said this was a sign of the good relations the two East African countries are enjoying.

She said despite the dispute between the two countries over the Migingo Island, there was still much to share as neighbours.

The Kenyan delegation was led by Suumba district commissioner Nelson Mutula.

A total of 78 boat engines were handed over to Kenyan authorities last year after being confiscated from Kenyan fishermen found illegally fishing on Ugandan side of the lake.
