THOUSANDS of people thronged Bukedde FM’s Kigwo Ggumbya at Kasana Grounds in Nyendo Masaka on Sunday. Ekigwo (wrestling) organised by Bukedde Fm 100.5 Embuutikizi, Vision group’s other vibrant radio has been gaining momentum since its inception a few months back.

Business came to a standstill in Masaka town as a convoy of Bukedde presenters and their supporters marched through the town blowing horns and trumpets at around 11:00am. The competition began amid loud applause as contestants from Buddu and Mawogola counties used every trick to outdo each other. They included John Bbaale, Bosco Muwonge, Tomasi Kasaanya, Deo Kinaawa, David Luganzu and David Kalanzi.

Muwonge emerged the winner for Buddu County, while Musa Kabugo was the winner for Mawogola County. The function was attended by the NRM chairman of Ssennyange sub-county, Muhamood Sentongo, who received a suit from Select Garments, one of the sponsors.

Before going to Masaka (Buddu), Bukedde FM, had conducted a successful competition in Kooki on Saturday. Frank Muwonge emerged the winner from Kooki. He will join other winners on August 16 at Wankulukuku Stadium for the finals.

Ekigwo is sponsored by Samona, Select Garments, Hakuna Matata, Bukedde newspaper, Zain, NBS Television and Bukedde FM.
