Uganda face Kenya in U-17s

UGANDA has been handed the easiest of the three CECAFA U-17 soccer championship groups that pits Kenya as their only challengers in the second edition of the regional youth event due August 19-31.

UGANDA has been handed the easiest of the three CECAFA U-17 soccer championship groups that pits Kenya as their only challengers in the second edition of the regional youth event due August 19-31.

The draw made in Nairobi yesterday has Zanzibar and returnees Ethiopia with Uganda in group B, whose matches will be played in the South Sudan city of Juba.

Guest team Nigeria (U-17 World Cup champions) and Egypt, who will be using the event as part of their preparations for the global showpiece due in Lagos in November, are in groups A and C.

Group A with hosts Sudan, Nigeria, Tanzania and Somalia will play their matches in Khartoum while group C of Egypt, Rwanda, Eritrea and champions Burundi will tussle in Wadmadeni.

Sudan President Hassan el Bashir has injected $0.7m (sh1.5bn) in the event.
