FIVE teenage boys received the opportunity of a lifetime after winning, in the presence of NBA star Juwan Howard, a trip to attend a week-long camp in South Africa.

Geoffrey Soro (19), James Okello (18), Isaac Kamya (17), William Otweyo (18) and Emmanuel Enabu (18) were chosen yesterday from a group of 32 players who had been taking part in a two-day camp at YMCA in Kampala, sponsored by Sprite.

The 38 year-old Howard, a free agent after spending last season with the Charlotte Bobcats, chose the five with the help of local basketball officials Mande Juruni, Hamza Nyambogo and Mavita Ali.

Also involved in the selection was Jamal Atkins, an official from Miles and Associates, the South Africa-based organisation responsible for running the four nationwide camps from which the 32 players were chosen.

Also sponsored by Sprite, the four camps were held in Gulu, Mbale, Fort Portal and Kampala. The South African camp starts September 2.
