A KENYAN student was over the weekend knocked dead by a speeding car at Makerere University campus in Kampala.

The Police said Patrick Chengeri, studying Bachelor of Arts in Arts, was knocked near the Main Library by the speeding vehicle

Henry Kalulu, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesman, said the over speeding driver lost control of the vehicle.

Kalulu identified the driver of the vehicle as Richard Kitara, 22, who is also student at both Makerere and Uganda Christian University in Mukono.

Kitara is currently in Police custody as he awaits prosecution.

Kalulu said Chengeri was pronounced dead at Mulago Hospital, where he had been rushed for treatment.

He noted that Kitara, who had gone to pick his identity card from Makerere, was rushing to register at Uganda Christian University in Mukono, where he had been admitted for another course.
