CHESS - Former league champions, Kireka Chess Club beat Aviation 4-1 on Sunday to leap into joint second position with Uganda Christian University UCU at 23 points each. In the other game, a rejuvenated Mulago Knights built on their previous draw with the leaders with an 4-1 win over former champions MUK. Games between leaders Kings and Mulago Rooks and UCU and Mengo were postponed to next Sunday.

Meet called off

TABLE TENNIS - The Uganda table tennis body UTTA interim committee has postponed the extra-ordinary assembly that had been called for Saturday, to allow time to complete the draft constitution. The meeting will now sit in a month’s time, according to committee chairman Andrew Gitta.
He said that they need time to consult on a comprehensive constitution. “It’s a big process and we need more time and consultations. We have not even embarked on the consultations,” he said.

Mbarara team set for Iddi Cup

SOCCER - Four teams in Mbarara Municipality on Monday received a ball each in preparation for the Iddi Cup which kicks off tomorrow. The teams are Friends Corner, Bodaboda FC, Butunda Central and Katete FC from the three divisions of Mbarara Municipality. The balls were donated by Stanley Katembeyi, the director of the municipality based Grand Holiday hotel and AK beauty shop.
