A 28-year-old man from Katakwi district is in custody over alleged possession of two grenades and attire similar to army uniform.

Moses Okwir is detained at the Rapid Response Unit head office in Kireka, a Kampala suburb, following his arrest at Agu village on Monday.

According to the deputy Police spokesperson, Richard Musisi, Okwir had a land row with his uncle only identified as Okori.
“The misunderstanding degenerated into a quarrel in which the man threatened to end his uncle’s life,” Musisi said.

Okwir then reportedly dashed to his house and grabbed one of his grenades, which he threatened to hurl at his uncle.

The Police suspect that Okwir was behind many robberies in the area. It was not clear where Okwir got the items from.

Okwir will appear before the general court martial at Makindye, on charges of possession of material not meant to be used by civilians.

Meanwhile, a couple was arrested as they allegedly tried to sell 32 bullets at sh2,000 in Kumi district.

Justus Onai and Rose Akurut were arrested on Monday following Onai’s unsuccessful attempt to sell the bullets to an undercover security officer.
The Police suspect the couple to have acquired the bullets from Karamoja.
Musisi added that another man identified as Pablo Ofwono reportedly stole clothes worth sh120m from his employer, Corporate World after duplicating the keys to the company offices.
