THE Government has been urged to take affirmative action to make Karamoja a gun-free region.

The Moroto district council speaker, Joseph Lomonyang, said: “People have now changed their attitude towards guns. The Government should come up with projects that can engage them, ” said Lomonyang.

He made the appeal in an interview with The New Vision in Iriiri sub-county, Moroto district.

Lomonyang said they were happy with the disarmament programme that he said, has brought relative peace.

He urged the Government to send tractors to the region to open up more land for agriculture.
