MPEKA Muhumuza has been axed as Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) Chief Executive just three months into his tenure following a failure to meet “expectations.”

Muhumuza received a letter informing him of the UCA executive’s decision to terminate his one-year contract on Wednesday.

The local sport governing body is already on the search for a successor.
The former Makerere University lecturer, who took office on August 1, would make “no comment” when contacted for a reaction.

Nevertheless, Muhumuza’s dismissal will go down as some kind of false start because the maiden UCA CEO was not able to make it past the three-month probation period.

The CEO office was set up this year following a recommendation of the world cricket governing body ICC.

Memorably, Muhumuza was carefully selected from a list of 24 applicants so it is a mystery how he has been found incapable of “taking Uganda cricket to the next level”.

“To put it simply, said UCA Publicist Latimar Mukasa, “the expectations have not been met and to put it safely, they have not been met on both sides.”

UCA chairman Dr. Kato Sebbaale and administrative officer Martin Ondeko will fill in as the search for the next CEO unfolds.
