Do something crazy for love

Nov 04, 2009

JUST out of a whim, I took to the streets to ask strangers what craziest thing they have ever done for love. They all behaved in the same metamorphosis! Hard word? OK, metamorphosis, for those who never studied P.5, (these days it is taught in Top Class)

JUST out of a whim, I took to the streets to ask strangers what craziest thing they have ever done for love. They all behaved in the same metamorphosis! Hard word? OK, metamorphosis, for those who never studied P.5, (these days it is taught in Top Class) means egg – larva – pupa – adult housefly. Simple!

Back to the street survey; Madam Stranger would look at my face with astonishment and, just before releasing a rapid fire of admonition (like a pastor preaching about tithe – kimu ky’ekkumi), she would be ambushed and overwhelmed by an inner fire, progressively getting visible within her facial muscles. The inner fire would burst into flames around her mouth (read smile) as the whole body vibrates in a giggle. I would then find myself laughing along – without knowing why.

That is the power of memory. It sets off from that special part of the brain and can arrive to the surface in a smile or laughter regardless of the prevailing circumstances. People break out into unsolicited laughter during a sad story about guys committing suicide with waragi.

Anything deemed crazy in the name of love is stored in a special bag in the brain marked sh900m. It is supposed to be kept in a strong safe but some crazy guys keep it under the bed. It is not supposed to get lost.

If it does, the whole Government, president, armed forces, journalists, judges, MPs, NGOs and Akankwasa himself stop what they are doing to look for it. In the process, Jamwa enjoys the distraction away from NSSF, which explains the smile on my respondents’ faces.

Mankind is obsessed by one thing: To live forever. Ever since death started walking this planet, we have become innovative in ways to survive beyond our death. We get children in the hope that our name and memories live forever through our children. Technology brought us cameras to keep records of ourselves long after we have gone on and for love, that precious fire in our hearts, we have memories. I, for example, remember the girl who broke my virginity. Wherever she is, she lives in my sh900m bag - though the Government and I are still looking for it.

And, it seems, it is a good idea to live forever in other people’s special brain segment. So, you must do what it takes to get there. And the surest way I know of is to do something your partner will think is crazy for his or her sake. Without knowing it, you will be comfortably seated in their special memory segment.

For my part, I deceived my wife that I was very brilliant. And the heroic part is that I have lived that lie for the last 19 years of our marriage. And that is not even the craziest thing I have done!

Have you ever done anything crazy with/for your partner? If no, neither of you will live for ever in the other’s brains. If yes, don’t tell me now. Just send me mail to the e-mail address above.

And if you don’t have an e-mail, write to: Intimate Editor, P. O. Box 9815, Kampala.
