THEATRE Factory has decided to hold their sixth anniversary celebrations instead of the norm of celebrating at five or 10 years. The celebrations will be marked with a show this Thursday (December 17) at National Theatre.

THEATRE Factory has decided to hold their sixth anniversary celebrations instead of the norm of celebrating at five or 10 years. The celebrations will be marked with a show this Thursday (December 17) at National Theatre.
The show will have three stages; on one will be the group’s members from 2003-2005, another, members who joined between 2005 and 2007 while the main stage will have those who have joined recently.
“The skits will build up into the group’s documentary,†said Richard Tuwangye, the group’s public relations manager during a press briefing recently.
The comedy show will run for only two hours. The rest of the time will be filled with music acts and surprise guest comedians.
Theatre Factory started with an audience of only six people six years ago, but has grown to attract a crowd of about 1,200 people every Thursday night. The group has made a commendable improvement in areas like costuming and stage set ups.
The celebrations will continue in Mbarara on Boxing Day and other places thereafter. The group, being the first to cater for a nouveau-riche corporate audience, has received praise and criticism in the press in almost equal amounts. The concert will perhaps give you a proper take on what Theatre Factory is, and what it is not.
