Despite being a day scholar at Grace Boarding Primary School, Humphrey Wamono, 12, beat all odds to emerge among the best candidates in Mbale district in last year’s PLE examinations.

Despite being a day scholar at Grace Boarding Primary School, Humphrey Wamono, 12, beat all odds to emerge among the best candidates in Mbale district in last year’s PLE examinations.
Each day, Wamono would commute on a motorcycle with his younger sister from Nauyo cell in Mutoto sub-county for a distance of about seven kilometres to the school.
Wamono, who scored aggregate 5 attributes his performance to the good friends that used to help him in subjects he found difficult.
“I used to find Mathematics difficult, but my friend, Joseph Gesei , who was good at the subject, would teach me how to solve some questions. After classes, about four of us would converge and discuss questions in past papers,†Wamono said.
Wamono said he hoped to join Kings College Budo and wants to become a medical doctor.
However, his father, Martin Wamono, said he expected his son to score aggregate 4 because he revised his books until 10:00pm every day.
