RUBAGA North MP Beti Olive Kamya has said she will not campaign for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in any election.

Kamya was addressing residents of Kamuli in Mateete sub-county, Sembabule district on Sunday during the last funeral service for Hajji Ahmed Byayi.

“You asked me to canvass for FDC’s votes here but I will not. I instead urge you to vote for Buganda,” Kamya said.

“All my support and obedience was in FDC, someone else has theirs in DP, NRM and other parties, but that should stop and we begin a new chapter of voting depending on our regions,” she added.

Kamya said party politics was only benefiting party leaders.

“If you support people to represent you on condition that they support your regions, say Buganda, Bunyoro and Toro, then they would listen to you rather than depend on the party support which prevents them from presenting issues,” she said.

“Buganda has about 80 seats, which is the largest number of members from the same region in Parliament, but our demands are ever being suppressed,” she said.

“If we joined our voice and requested for support from, say Bunyoro when demanding federo, we would achieve our goal,” she explained.

Kamya was responding to the LC1 chairman, Uthman Sennyonga, who asked about the Prosperity-For-All funds and other agricultural requirements like drugs and tractors needed to modernise agriculture.

“We should set up conditions for any one who wants our votes. Then our region will benefit,” Kamya explained.

“Buganda has an agenda but has no programme. We must stop jumping on other people’s buses. Today it is yellow, tomorrow it will be blue and on the other day, you’ll jump on the green bus,” Kamya said.

Kamya fell out with FDC when she was not appointed chairperson of the party after the death of Dr. Sulaiman kiggundu last year..

Masaka NRM vice-chairperson, Hajji Muyanja Mbabaali, called upon the people of Sembabule to unite and forget differences they had developed during the district Woman MP by-elections which saw Anifa Kawooya Bangirana resuming her seat.

He urged the residents to form interest groups so as to benefit from Government programmes like the Prosperity-For-All programme.
