Is local tax still in force?

SOMETIME in February, the mayor of Kampala Nasser Ntege Sebaggala, hinted that the local service tax would be scrapped “with immediate effectâ€. I watched the news on WBS.
SOMETIME in February, the mayor of Kampala Nasser Ntege Sebaggala, hinted that the local service tax would be scrapped “with immediate effectâ€. I watched the news on WBS.
I am however disturbed when after paying for my trading licence, I was again given bank payment forms of sh100,000 to be paid to Kampala City Council (KCC) and told that unless the tax was paid, the trading licence would not be issued to me!
Can someone in KCC explain if this tax is still in force and if not what shall happen to me who has now just paid it?
