Archbishop calls for peace and reconciliation

THE Archbishop of Kampala, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, has called on the Government to promote peace and reconciliation in order to stop the rebellions in the country.

THE Archbishop of Kampala, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, has called on the Government to promote peace and reconciliation in order to stop the rebellions in the country.
Lwanga was speaking in Nkokonjeru, Mukono district during celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the death of Mother Kevin, the founder of the Little Sisters of St. Francis. Mother Mary Kevin came to Uganda in 1903.
Missionaries, Lwanga said, played a big role in establishing schools and health centres in rural areas.
“Most people, especially in rural areas where leprosy and malaria were common, needed medical assistance. Missionaries like Mother Kevin treated the people for free.â€
The Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, called on church leaders to promote the Bonna Bagaggawale programme in their campaigns to improve food security in the households.
He promised to advocate for the tarmacking of the Mukono-Nkokonjeru road in the next financial year. “I talked to the President about the bad state of your road and he agreed to see that it is tarmacked soon.â€
Bukenya advised the locals to embrace modern agriculture practices that will enable them improve their household income.
