THE Alur King, His Highness Rwoth Ubimu Philip Olarker Rauni III, has promised to work with other traditional leaders to find a peaceful solution to the LRA war in the North, reports Ayiga Ondoga.
The Rwoth was briefing journalists on his plans for developing his kingdom on arrival at Entebbe airport on Tuesday.
Accompanied by his mother, Rotzett Namisi-Keronega, he was received by the kingdom’s executive secretary, Peter Uchanda, ministers and the Alur community living in Entebbe and Kampala.
The king was treated to the Alur traditional dance at the VIP lounge and he later performed rituals to the excitement of onlookers.
“I’m glad to be back home and work for the people in the Alur kingdom and to promote development programmes,†he said.
Uchanda said the kingdom had developed a good working relationship with other traditional leaders.
“In order to modernise the kingdom, encourage development and promote the cultural and social transformation, the Rwoth has put in place an administrative system headed by the prime minister (Jadipu) and Prince Angala Opar Jalumvor Jalsonge II.â€
Welcoming the Rwoth at his Bugolobi residence, the finance state minister and Jonam MP, Jacan Omach, wished him a prosperous leadership.
He commended the Government for recognising traditional leaders and kingdoms, which were abolished by the past regimes.
Rwoth Ubimu is the 33rd king of the Alur kingdom and son to the late Prince Edward Keronega and Rotzett Keronega.
Keronega was the son of Jobi II, whose predecessor, Rwoth Ubimo Valente Keroyoma Jobi II, passed away in 2000.
