Acholi women should actively participate in the peace process, a member of the LRA peace team has said.

Santa Okot told women leaders in Pader district recently that the 20-year insurgency had affected women most.

She said their involvement would give the process credibility.
The women, on their part, told Okot that as mothers they had forgiven the LRA rebels for whatever atrocities they committed during their rebellion.

They asked her to request LRA leader Joseph Kony and his fighters to return home.

They asked Kony to release all the children still in captivity.

The LRA peace delegation was on Thursday in Pader to consult the population on the peace talks.
