Leaders have been urged to guide the public against fake pastors. Speaking to The New Vision on Monday, former Busia resident district commissioner George Bageya said some people were easily swayed once they hear of God’s name. Bageya added that greed for money and property was fuelling the rivalry in churches. Now a born-again Christian, Bageya observed that churches thrived on offertory which is boosted by big membership.

12 NAADS goats stolen

Thieves on Monday stole 12 of the 300 goats distributed to farmers by the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) two weeks ago. Valentino Lomongin, an official of the farmers group in Katikekile sub-county, said the goats were stolen from Michael Iriama’s compound in Singila slum. Lomongin added that they traced the goats to Kanamakol village in Lia parish, Nadunget sub-county.

Iganga Town Council will hold a public budget session, popularly called kimeeza, on Monday. The LC3 chairperson, Siraji Katono, said the 2009/2010 budget will be presented to the public at the open space adjacent to Post Bank on Main Street. President Yoweri Museveni recently initiated sub-county bimeeza or local discussion foras to be chaired by resident district commissioners so as to enable leaders to account for funds entrusted to them.
