RUGBY Cranes coach Chester Williams has no doubts about the natural abilities of the 31-man squad which has been in non-residential training for the last three weeks. Talent-wise, he says, “they are great.”

However, Williams has not shied away from expressing his desire of having the group of uganda telecom Kobs ex-internationals who ruled themselves out of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Tunisia.

Williams believes those players, chief among whom includes Allan Musoke, Timothy Mudoola and Tony Luggya, possess a time-honoured quality which will be missed.

“It’s just their experience we’ll miss,” Williams explained. “Talent-wise, I think the team we have is good but it’s the experience (that they don’t have).”

Since taking over as coach last month, Williams has been on record about his wish of having all of Uganda’s best players in camp although the South African has been careful not to overplay it.

The World Cup winner is aware of the challenge that Tunisia will pose over the two legs and his opinion about the missing stars is just a reflection of that.

But just like any good coach, Williams has all the same stressed that the current team is good enough to do the job.
