More children immunised
KANUNGU - The district has registered 125.1% immunisation coverage for polio in the just-concluded national campaign. Uganda Red Cross field coordinator Cadet Benjamin said they targeted about 47,300 children, but 59,200 were immunised. Benjamin added that they had targeted about 38,300 children for the measles vaccine, but about 39,700 were immunised.

Isingiro’s sh15b budget

ISINGIRO - The district’s budget for the next financial year totals sh15b. Presenting the budget to the district council recently, finance secretary Ben Asiimwe said more emphasis was put on major service delivery areas like education, health, works and production. He said the budget is intended to reduce poverty, improve household incomes and provide social services to the people.

Vocational schools hailed

NTUNGAMO - Private vocational training institutions have been hailed for promoting education in Uganda. The district education officer, Charles Bakeine, said technical courses have enabled many people to earn a decent living. He was speaking at the career’s day of Ruhama Trinity Technical School in Nyarutuntu recently.
