Lazy doctors to be sacked
Kabale
Health workers who abandon upcountry stations will be demoted, the director of medical services, Sam Zaramba, has said. Zaramba observed that some doctors and support staff were only working 10 hours per month, yet the Government is paying them full salaries. Zaramba was recently reacting to complaints raised by the Kabale Hospital medical superintendent, Michael Osinde, who said some doctors and other health workers sent to the district do not stay there for more than two months. “Most of them say Kabale is cold and remote,” said Osinde.

The Police are hunting for a pastor over issuing a bad cheque. George Mwesigwa, a pastor at a church in Njara hill, is said to have issued a sh1m cheque to Hilton Tours Inn, which bounced. The cheque was issued on May 16, but when it was presented to the bank, there was no money on Mwesigwa’s account, said Enock Ndyomugyenyi, the Kabarole criminal investigations department chief. A source told the Police that the pastor offered people drinks and food at the hotel.
