RUGBY Cranes coach Yayiro Kasasa is a relieved man after his dependable players passed a fitness test in time for the Elgon Cup first leg against Kenya in Nairobi tomorrow.

Captain Moses Soita, Romano Ogwal, Brian Odong, Paul Kabazzi and Mathias Ochwo who had been doubtful due to injury were passed fit by the physiotherapist on Wednesday night.

Kasasa was all smiles as he saw off his squad that left by road yesterday. He will join the team today.

“We are aiming to win in Nairobi and defend our lead at home. All the players are fully fit and I expect good results. I always go for a win,” Kasasa remarked.

The return leg is scheduled for August 29 in Kampala.

The Cranes tactician has his strategy well cut out. “I know they have a bigger pack than ours and an experienced back line but we have set our game plan. If we follow the strategy they will fall,” Kasasa asserted.

Uganda that lost the previous two editions to Kenyan will be expected to turn tables.

Meanwhile, Lady Cranes coach Henry Musoke will face Kenya without the quick legs of Justin Bayigga and Winnie Atyang.

Bayiga is in France while Atyang is serving a suspension.

“We shall miss their experience but we have got talented young blood to replace them effectively,” Musoke said.

Prosy Nakakande will replace Atyang while newly acquired athlete Emma Oroma will fit in Bayiga’s shoes.

The Cranes teams in the Elgon Cup are sponsored by UAP Insurance, Ice Mark, fuel company Hash and the Ministry of Education and Sports.
