Resolve the Kayunga issue immediately

I have watched with sadness the violence that has erupted in Kayunga over the Kabaka’s planned visit this weekend. From what I have observed, I have come to a conclusion that Kayunga could be a time bomb if nothing is done to calm the two warring sides.

What is happening there should be an eye opener to the Government to address the disagreements as soon as possible.

The fundamental question right now is not which monarch heads Kayunga, but the return of peace. Much as the Baganda youth may want their Kabaka to visit Kayunga, it is not justifiable doing so through violence.

At the end of the day, little or nothing will be achieved, yet a lot will have been lost in terms of time and effort. Let us not allow our nation to be divided a long tribal lines. The Banyala and Baganda should return to peaceful co-existence, the way it was before.
