THE Police undersecretary, who was imprisoned last month over causing a sh3.1b loss to the Government, has been released on bail.

Winnie Kabogoza Musoke was last Wednesday granted a sh10m bond by Justice Paul Mugamba of the Anti-Corruption Court.

Musoke and three officers were charged with neglect of duty and causing financial loss to the Government through the creation of ghost officers on the Police payroll between February and July. Others released on bond were Primo Nyokatre, the deputy personnel manager, Dennis Twinamatsiko, a superintendent attached to the finance department and Dennis Nyangweso, also attached to the headquarters in Kampala.

The accused first appeared before Buganda Road Court magistrate Emmy Sayekwo, jointly charged with Ashe Kawooya, an official in the Ministry of Finance.

Of the seven suspects, only Harriet Kyomugisha is still on the run.
