HOIMA Football Club has drawn a sh176m budget in its quest for an impressive show in the team’s maiden Uganda Super League season.

“We are appealing to everyone in Bunyoro to come forward and support their team,” appealed Hoima District Football Association chairman Stanley Kizza.

Oil mining companies Tullow and Heritage are some of the businesses the club plans to approach.

The club also plans to approach prominent personalities from the area led by Henry Kajura, the Second Deputy Prime Minister who is also Public Service Minister and Information Minister Kabakumba Matsiko.

“We’ve planned a special meeting with them (Kajura and Matsiko) that should yield fruits,” explained Kiiza.

Initial fund raising efforts have kick started construction of a perimeter fence, stadium enclosure and roofing of a pavilion.

The fund raising efforts come as a big relief following fears that the team would not be able to kick-off their first season in the top league.

“We shall certainly be in the league up to the end of the season,” said Kizza, who together with other club officials at the weekend selected the team’s 25 players for the season. Coached by ex-international Wasswa Bossa, Hoima will rely mainly on homegrown talent.

Hoima was recently promoted together with central region’s Fire Masters, Masaka LC (Buganda), CRO (Eastern) and Arua Central (Northern).
