MUKONO district National Agricultural Advisory Service (NAADS) programme has received sh3b, the district chairman has said.

Francis Mukoome Lukoya said each sub-county would receive sh118m.
He was on Tuesday addressing farmers from the district, who were attending a one-day meeting at their office in Mukono town.

The meeting was organised by the Mukono District Farmers Association to assess the impact of the organisation this year.

Lukoya advised the farmers to get involved in NAADS programmes, saying it was the only way they could access government funds to boost agriculture.

Lukoya cautioned NAADS officials against diverting funds and urged the farmers to demand accountability.

The farmers complained that some agricultural inputs they receive under the NAADS programme were of poor quality.

The association’s chairman, Ben Lubega, commended the Government for the continued funding of the programme.

During the meeting, the association received a trophy which the farmers won in July at the agricultural show in Jinja.
