I lost a testicle

Sep 28, 2009

YOU did not tell me why one of your testes had to be removed. The testes are part of the male reproductive organs and this is where sperms are manufactured.

Ask the doctor with Dr. Gloria Ndagire
Dear Doctor,
It is now nine years since I was operated upon. During the operation, I lost one of my testicles. Now I have one testicle but the rest of my private parts are functioning well. My worry is that I may not be able to have a baby when I get into a relationship. Please advice.
Francois

Dear Francois,
YOU did not tell me why one of your testes had to be removed. The testes are part of the male reproductive organs and this is where sperms are manufactured.

Both testes produce sperms in very large numbers. The removal of one of your testes may result into a reduction in the total sperm count but it does not make you sterile.

If the remaining testes are normal, it is still possible to have children. However if you do have problems in the future it may be wise for you to visit a fertility specialist. A sperm count can provide sufficient information about fertility potential.
