Industrial parks to open
TORORO-The Government will soon open 22 industrial parks in the country, finance minister Saida Bbumba has said. In a speech read by investment state minister Aston Kajara, Bbumba said the districts earmarked for the project were chosen because of their vast pieces of land. “The Government will buy the land from the owners and lure investors to take it up,” she said. Bbumba said the aim is to balance development and create employment opportunities. This was during the launch of the Science Week at the Lions Club grounds in Tororo district last week.

The previous two meetings took place in 1964 and 1993.

MPs lack abortion facts
KAMPALA-Half of the MPs are not aware of policies concerning abortion, a report has shown. The report produced by Jakara Mato and Leah Wibecan of Yale University in the US showed that between June and August 2009, most MPs exhibited limited knowledge about abortion. Presenting a document on attitude in Parliament concerning unintended pregnancies and safe abortion to journalists at Hotel Triangle in Kampala last Thursday, the head of reproductive health in Uganda, Dr. Peter Ibembe, said many MPs relied on personal experiences and tales. He said most MPs supported abortion for the deformed fetus and pregnancies in case of rape and incest.
