THE She Cranes made an opening statement yesterday after they crushed Zambia 39-31 in the inaugural Inter-Nations netball tournament in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Peace Proscovia was the pivot for Uganda after she single-handedly netted 26 goals by halftime. Second half was also full of action with She Cranes playing full-court netball. The partnership of Annet Nakiwu and wing attacker Hadija Nakabuye also worked pretty well contributing 13 more goals to Uganda’s victory.

In other games, South Africa lost twice, 33-19 in their opening game against Tanzania’s Taifa Queens and a 77-22 thrashing by Malawi.

The South Africans return today against Namibia while Uganda plays Malawi and hosts Tanzania faces Namibia.

The week-long event was on Monday rolled off by Tanzania’s First Lady, Salma Kikwete.

Teams from nine countries are taking part in the meet at Uhuru National Stadium in Tanzania’s business capital.
