Charles Mushagamba, a traffic officer, was on Wednesday arrested and charged with three counts of extortion of money, neglect of duty and disobeying orders.

Mushagamba allegedly got sh40,000 from a driver of Discovery Buses, Gasper Oponi, for allegedly disobeying the rule to stop.

The regional Police spokesman in northern Uganda, Johnson Kilama, said Mushagamba was taken to court on Friday afternoon.

Schools get new blocks

Three of the most populated schools in Arua municipality have received new classroom blocks from the education ministry.

The municipality senior education officer, Florence Anguzu, said the blocks will decongest the classrooms and create a better learning environment for the pupils.
