God blamed for suffering
- MOROTO
The LC1 chairman Boma North village, Moroto municipality, Rev. Isaac Longole, has said Karamoja region has continued suffering and lagging behind in development because God is punishing the Karimojong for their failure to unite. He was speaking during the 47th Independence celebrations at Boma Grounds in Moroto municipality. Resident district commissioner Nahaman Ojwee said Independence meant there was peace and security for property and lives.

NRM members to woo others

The resident district commissioner, Joan Pacoto, has asked the National Resistance Movement supporters to associate with other party supporters to freely woo them into their party. During Independence celebrations at Akii Bua Stadium in Lira municipality, Pacoto castigated some NRM members, who feel too insecure to associate and interact with political opponents.

RDC warns on political alliances

Amuru resident district commissioner Edwin Yakobo Komakech has warned against forming and joining political alliances ahead of the 2011 elections. He was speaking during the Independence celebrations on Friday at the district headquarters. He cited the Kabaka Yekka and the Uganda People's Congress alliance in the 1960's, which he said plunged the country into chaos.

Busoga asked to pray for peace

Christopher Bagonza, the Jinja resident district commissioner, has called upon the people of Busoga to pray for a peaceful resolution of the current Kyabazingaship stalemate. He was speaking during the Independence celebrations on Friday. Kagoma County MP Fredrick Nkayi Mbagadhi accused politicians of fuelling the Kyabazinga crisis.The mayor, Mohammed Kezaala Baswale, noted that the wrangles in the kingdom had disrupted unity in the region.
