IT was its last time in Kampala this year but it left marketing experts more knowledgeable than before. “The Marketers Night Out,” at Serena Kampala Hotel last Friday attracted crowds, provided knowledge and fantastic entertainment for the evening.

The big number of unexpected guests almost ruined it, so often more chairs had to be squeezed in to create space for guests who kept dropping by. Otherwise, food, music acts, intellectual presentation and jokes, made the event exceptionally better.

Chartis Insurance’s Barbara Kasekende was the emcee of the night. She spiced up the occasion with her perennial smile and assertiveness.

The Tusker Malt Lager-sponsored event kicked off at 6.00pm with great pomp and by 7.00pm, the venue was filled up. It was organised by Marketing Africa.

Two of the Tusker Project Fame (TPF3) contestants; Leah Atute and Maureen Kabasiita; made their first public performance. They were applauded though they did not sing original songs.

But, the spectacular performances came from the Obsessions, who, in their sexy costumes, set fire among fans. They sang all their tracks and when they finished, a thunderous applause rocked the venue.

But music was not the main act of the event; the main act was the food for the brain; the main speaker was, Isaac Nsereko, the chief marketing officer, MTN Uganda, who delivered the keynote speech: “The Sought after Marketing Professional.” He taught marketers what it takes to be a successful marketer.
