Broke golfers to miss tour
Financially constrained Ugandan golfers will skip the opening events of the South African Sunshine Summer Tour that gets underway this weekend.
Uganda Professional Golfers Association captain Deo Akope said that the Ugandans, who had earlier planned to do the entire tour, will just compete in the last two tournaments scheduled for next month. Akope, Godfrey Mande and Amos Kamya have opted out of the Johannesburg Open this week and Dimension Data tournament later this month. “We would have loved to be there for entire tour but we can’t afford,” Akope remarked.

KKL hosts
Kampala Kids League will host a Holiday Football Clinic and tournament next week for boys and girls aged 6-14.The tournament will be held to commemorate the Africa Cup of Nations tournament due to kick off later this month and will include 16 teams representing the countries that have reached the finals. The two-day clinic runs on January 15-16 at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.

Urban meet
The national urban tournament is scheduled to kick off on January 16 in Lira at Lango College. The organising secretary, Leo Alani said the nine regions including the hosts, are to field two teams each for netball and football. The event had earlier been scheduled for December last year but was postponed due to the breakout of Ebola. The hosts are already preparing for the three-day event.
