Who will be the next hip hop, R&B queen and king?

STUDENTS stand a chance to win recording deals at the ‘All School Hip hop and R&B Battle’ today at Lugogo Indoor Stadium. Other goodies like mobile phones, sim packs, airtime, bags, iPods, flasks and T-shirts, all courtesy of MTN, are also up for grabs.

STUDENTS stand a chance to win recording deals at the ‘All School Hip hop and R&B Battle’ today at Lugogo Indoor Stadium. Other goodies like mobile phones, sim packs, airtime, bags, iPods, flasks and T-shirts, all courtesy of MTN, are also up for grabs.

Dennis Musanje, the organiser of the event, said about 374 students have entered the competition, which kicks off at 10:00am. Entrance fee is sh5,000 to the event which will also feature performances from popular local artistes like Juliana Kanyomozi, Michael Ross, Blue*3, Klear Kut, Morris Kirya, Rachael Kiwanuka and US-based rappers, Bataka Squad.

“By the end of the day, we shall have got the next R&B Queen and King, who will be rewarded with recording contracts courtesy of Good Enuf Studios,” said Musanje.

Contestants will represent their respective schools, which will be grouped into six.

A total of 23 schools including Mwiri College, Namilyango College, St Mary’s College Kisubi, Budo SS, St. Lawrence Schools, Makerere College School, Kibuli SS and Makerere and Kampala International universities, will be represented.

The event will be spiced up with a fashion show by Latiff Designs, while representatives from Young Empowered and Healthy (YEAH) will sensitise the youth on the dangers of HIV/AIDS.
