KAYUNGA

THE district has earmarked sh350m to construct and rehabilitate major roads in the area, the head of works department, Eng. Enoch Kalema has said.

While addressing the press at the district headquarters in Ntenjeru, Kalema said the funds would be used for routine maintenance, repairing and rehabilitating roads which are under Kayunga district local government.

“After completion of these roads we expect easy movement of agricultural products from the villages to urban centres where there is market for them,” Kalema said.

He warned companies that won tenders of the mentioned roads against doing substandard work saying that no money would be paid to tenderes who shall do shadow work.

Most roads in the district became impassable following the recent heavy down pour and this had hindered easy movement of goods and services.
