THE Bishop of Kitgum Diocese, Benjamin Ojwang, has testified in court against three Chritians charged with unlawfully locking him and three priests in a vestry.

Former diocesan secretary, the Rev. William Oketa, the vice-chairman of Concerned Christians, Lowum Daramoi and the deputy principal of Kitgum Technical Institute, Kenneth Arop p’Acire, allegedly locked up the bishop at Kitgum Town Parish Church a year ago.

The accused claim the bishop was not fit to shepherd the Kitgum flock. They say he had been a divisive factor and want him removed from the diocese.

The well-attended court was presided over by Grade One Magistrate Elias Kakooza who reinstated the suspects’ bail.
It had been cancelled after prosecution convinced court that they had abused it by inciting Christians.

Kakooza advised the two parties to reconcile and settle the matter out of court.
