DO you have problems with your headphones and yet you are certain you did not distort or bother their daily operations? Here are a few pointers that will ensure your headphones produce good music and stay in good condition;

Avoid letting the earphones dangle
Do not tangle the cord with the wires. This may lead to knots which can pinch the wires and break them. Do not touch the headphones together. Doing so will push the magnets which wears them out. Buy a case for them, this will keep them free of tangles and any physical damage.

In addition, when buying headphones, look out for ones which have some sort of strain relief (this is a flexible comb of plastic on the end of the connectors). This can help to prevent you pulling the wires out of the headphones.

Do not use tiny headphones on a stereo that is not designed for them
There is a possibility that the power applied to the headphones will be too great for them to handle.

Avoid sharp pulls on the cord
This will pull the wires out of their holders over time, making them unusable.

Turn your music down
Not only is loud music likely to ruin your headphones, but, it is really bad for your eardrums. If your stereo or MP3 player has a volume limiting system, use it. It will prevent you from damaging your hearing and prolong the life of your headphones.

Buy good headphones
Sometimes the cheapest headphones are not the best and are more likely to break. Buy a good, recognised brand, and they should last a long time.
