Romantic no more

He was once romantic, and he said this himself. State Minister for justice and constitutional affairs has changed his first name from Freddie to Frederick.
The reason he gives for that is funny but true.
“I have signed an affidavit to change my name. You know when I was still a youth; women preferred calling me Freddie because it sounded romantic. Now that I am an old man with a bald head and grey hair I have changed my name for Frederick Ruhindi,”
the minister said shortly after a talk-show on Vision Voice Radio.

Okumu fumes

Aswa county MP Reagan Okumu will never allow anybody to use his name for selfish interests. Addressing a press conference at Parliament on Monday to refute allegations made by NRM deputy spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo that he studied on State House scholarship, Okumu charged:
“For somebody to claim me now because I am a Member of Parliament is uncalled for. That is propaganda and cheap politics. Ofwono as usual got his facts wrong.”

Endless demands

Ask the Prime Minister the problems of being a politician and he will definitely cite endless demands from people. Appearing before a parliamentary committee on government assurance, Prof. Apolo Nsibambi said: “When I go to my farm in Buloba people come asking for money and others come to my office asking for jobs. When I was still at Makerere I used to receive none. Ever since I became a Prime Minister I live in the world of demands even when I go to church to pray.”

Tough Nabila

Kampala woman MP Nabilah Ssempala is no simple woman.
The MP reacted to her colleague, Erias Lukwago’s allegations that she and Geoffrey Ekanya had been bribed to change their position on the sale of Nakasero Market. “Hon. Lukwago should not build political capital using my name. That is cheap politics. I will take him on. He should substantiate his allegations,” she said.
