The Government owes the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) over sh70b, reports Paul Kiwuuwa.

Board chairman Zephania Baliddawa told the parliamentary committee on commissions and statutory authorities that government agencies were the biggest defaulters on rental services at the airport.

“The money has not been paid for 19 years. The agencies claim that they cannot pay rental arrears to CAA, which is also a government body,” Baliddawa said.

Without disclosing how much money each owed, Baliddawa named the defaulting agencies as the ministries of internal and foreign affairs, the Uganda Revenue Authority, the immigration and customs department and the internal and external security organisations.

The MPs resolved to summon the defaulting departments to explain.
