STANBIC Bank in partnership with Habitat for Humanity has built 45 houses worth sh200m for needy families in Namatogonya village in Mukono, writes Francis Emorut.

Stanbic’s managing director, Philip Odera, said it took three years to construct the houses on seven hectares.

“This project is a personification of our core values, which include being relevant to the societies in which we operate and making a real difference in their lives,” Odera said.

He pledged continuous partnership with Habitat to help disadvantaged communities.

Scott Metzel, the national director of Habitat for Humanity, said their venture had attracted the Government to extend the rural electrification programme.

The four-room houses consist of a sitting and dining room, two bedrooms, two VIP latrines and a bathroom.

The beneficiaries said they had never dreamt of owning houses.
