MPs have advised the National Agriculture Research Organisation (NARO) to seek the services of Interpol to trace three employees who disappeared in USA in 2003.

According to the Director General NARO, Denis Kyatera, the scientists disappeared after completing their PhD studies. He explained that the Government had spent about sh381.6m on training the three at different universities in USA. The scientists are Dr. Patrick Kayondo, Grace Mukulu, and Dr. Chalice Changa.

“We had agreed that when they complete their studies, they return and serve the organisation. But instead, they disappeared. We have tried in vain to track them everywhere through our embassy in USA,” Kyatera said.

He was on Thursday appearing before the Public Accounts Committee to answer queries raised by the Auditor General for the financial year 2003/4.
