KIBAALE - The district is to get sh722m for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS. The district health officer, Dr. Dan Kyamanywa, said the five-year project would be funded by the Elizabeth Glazier Foundation on Paediatric AIDS. He added children living with HIV/AIDS would be given anti-retroviral drugs. “In the past, children aged one-and-half could not be tested for HIV but currently, we have testing kits for babies as young as six weeks,” Kyamanywa said. In a related development, The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) has renewed its annual contribution towards the fight against the scourge at Kagadi Hospital.
