TOWN clerks and Mayors under their umbrella Alliance of Mayors and Municipal Leaders have expressed concern over the increasing sexual immorality in the city centre and other communities that has accelerated spread of HIV/AIDS.

During their annual general workshop at Jokas Hotel in Bweyogerere, the officials reviewed HIV/AIDS prevalence in urban centres as compared to rural areas. The review showed that HIV was still a problem.

They resolved that preventive measures must be adopted to control further spread of the scourge.

The minister of ethics, James Nsaba Buturo, expressed concern over increased number of sexual workers in urban centres despite the HIV/AIDS prevalence.

He said appropriate action must be taken to contain the situation.
Buturo said prostitution among the youth was becoming a challenge which required collective effort to combat.

John Mugisha, the chairman AIDS Service in Uganda, and said HIV/AIDS was high in urban centres and had to be checked.
