THE Icelandic International Development Agency has donated sh1b for the construction of a district administration block in Kalangala Islands. The current offices are old and dilapidated.

According to the district engineer, Novert Baliremwa, the surveys are almost complete, adding that work is due to begin in July and will last two years.

He said the new block will have ultra modern structures and hostels for civil servants.

The agency, Baliremwa added, would also fund the construction of modern headquarters for Mazinga and Bubeke sub-counties.

The vice chairman of the agency’s board of directors, Skuli Helgason, said last week at the site that the money would cover the first phase of the works.
