Five lucky winners of the Barclays Bank Triple Win Promotion are set to watch live the English Premier League match between Manchester United and West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday. The excited winners, Elly Baliki Avu (Hoima), William Atalyeba (Masindi), Macrine Namaganda (Kampala), Joy Talikaza (Jinja) and Moses Okore (Luwum branch) received their air-tickets from the bank’s head of marketing Gunilla Ouko in Kampala yesterday.

Nkumba girls fall to Kenyans
Nkumba University bowed out of the Africa women’s volleyball club championships in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday, going down in straight sets (25-10, 25-06, 25-06) at the hands of Kenya Prisons. It was the Ugandan varsity side’s second straight loss and, although with one game to go, they are already out of contention. Prisons dominated the match to win the first set 25-10. The Ugandans failed to keep pace with their more superior neighbours.

Malaria fight
Seven schools have raised sh16.6m to fight malaria after swimming a total distance of 2,096.5km in the ‘2008 World Swim against Malaria’ that ended on Saturday at Kabira Country Club. During a media briefing at the club over the weekend, Orient Bank's managing director Ben Lewis handed the cheque to Malaria Consortium Africa director Dr. Graham Root to buy mosquito nets in the fight against malaria.
