ITS makers call it the Triple-One-Zero. So the first lesson is, do not get caught referring to it as the one-thousand-one-hundred-and-ten gadget. Those in the know will conclude the gizmo world just passed you by.
A new innovation by MultiChoice Africa, the 1110 decoder has just hit the Ugandan market weeks after its manufacture.

Thinner and sleeker than the usual decoders, the 1110 has added signal decoding dimensions, but only works with DStv pay television.

It is another of Multichoice Africa’s technological innovations after recently launching the PVR decoder, which allows subscribers to view different channels on two different TV sets at the same time from the same decoder, rewind, pause, forward and record up to 80 hours of live television.

Now the 1110 has a modern look with a trendier remote control, which can work with all the other electronics in the home that use a remote controls.

The previous remote could only work with the TV and HI-FI/ amplifier.
It also has surround-sound capabilities and comes already paired to a smart card, which enables easy tracking in case the decoder is stolen.

Available at MultiChoice Uganda, the 1110 decoder goes for $178 (sh30,000), quite cheaper than the previous single view decoder, which went for $200 (sh340,000).

For a fully installed 1110, you part with $265 (sh450,000), about sh40,000 less than what you would pay for a fully installed single-view decoder.
